Biosis helps the NSW Roads and Maritime Services and AECOM secure approval for the Foxground Berry Bypass

Biosis assisted the NSW Roads and Maritime Services and AECOM in gaining approval from the Department of Planning and Infrastructure for the Foxground Berry Bypass, located south of Wollongong, NSW.  This project, which will provide a four lane divided highway, and extend the dual carriageway sections of the Princes Highway, will improve road safety on this stretch of road.  Biosis played an integral role in the approvals process, undertaking a detailed flora and fauna assessment of the proposed route, including hardstand and other associated infrastructure areas.  The project involved an initial assessment of proposed routes as part of a preferred route selection.  Detailed and targeted surveys were undertaken along the preferred route, and impact avoidance and mitigation measures developed to minimise the residual impacts of the project.  A Biodiversity Offset Strategy was prepared to provide the basis for further investigations of two options to offset residual impacts.
